“In numerous statements on social media leading up to the report’s publication, White said there should be no taxpayer funding for “useless degrees” in “garbage fields” like Urban Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, German Literature, African American Studies, Gender Studies and Women’s Studies. Claiming some academic programs are hotbeds of political radicalization…"

Oh really Mr White? Pray tell - where are all these violent militias of Anthropology, Gender and Woman Studies and African American Studies graduates? When did a gang of Literature or Sociology students have a stand-off with Federal law enforcement after staging an armed occupation of government property ending in a chase and a shoot-out? Where are all these Urban Studies radicals storming government buildings to prevent elected officials doing their jobs?
How about all those mass-shooters with manifestos filled with quotes from Germaine Greer, Martin Luther King and APA style references to Inglehart, R., & Baker, W. (2000) . Modernization, cultural change, and the persistence of traditional values.American sociological review, 12(5), 19-51?

Looks like the GOP had a setback in their attempts to take decisions out of the hands of voters in Jackson, MS (detailed in the post above):

MTG showing her undying support of the Jewish people by wishing them a Happy Yom Kippur with an image of… a menorah?

This is like wishing someone a Happy Easter with an image of baby Jesus in a manger. I wonder where she even found this image, because I doubt she has the technical ability to add the stylized headline or her congressional seal to a stock image on her own.

It’s from stock photo. Which makes me wonder if the person who put it there did so out of ignorance or as a joke to play on the ignorance of others.

The Justice Department announced on Friday that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) had been indicted on federal charges in connection with astonishing allegations of bribery and corruption. The filing of charges against a senior Democratic senator at a time when the attorney general, Merrick Garland, is an appointee of a president of the same party “appeared to undercut claims” from Republicans that former President Donald Trump “is the victim of pervasive political bias that targets leaders on the right while shielding transgressors on the left,” The New York Times reported that day.

But anyone who thought the charges against Menendez would lead pundits on the right to reconsider their assertions of a “two tiered” system of justice was making a category error. The right’s claim that President Joe Biden has “politicized” the Justice Department is not a reasoned, falsifiable claim based on evidence — it is a conspiracy theory in which all new information which seems to refute it is twisted by propagandists and marshaled in its support. That Biden is generally close-mouthed about DOJ activities and Garland spent his career outside of politics has never done anything to slow it down.

Trumpist pundits began laying out explanations for how Menendez’s indictment actually buttresses their politicization canard on Friday, as New Jersey’s Democratic leaders lined up to call for his resignation. Based on no evidence whatsoever, right-wingers suggested that Biden and Garland ordered Menendez’s prosecution for partisan reasons, either to create the “appearance of impartiality” so they could continue persecuting Trump or in retaliation for Menendez’s hawkish foreign policy views.

The radical myth of separation of church and state…

Now we get to the meat of it. Which church? Shall we be lead by the Holy See? Governed by fatwa? Southern Baptists define our morals? (shudder) Methodists?

Every damn one of them thinks his (of course, his) version of conservative chistofascism is the One True Way.
