i wonder if beyond just being stupid, he also meant it to be deliberately wrong. they certainly didn’t launch from hawaii, they launched from the ( checks wikipedia ) kuril islands north of japan.
maybe he doesn’t know what the word “from” means? or maybe he believes japanese people in hawaii attacked the philippines? either way i suspect the hair glue must be seeping through his skull

totally. he didn’t want to use the word “attacked”, but the verb he chose wound up implying an opposite directionally.
to me it wasn’t clear if he’d reversed the direction to enrage the pendants, or if he simply fumbled his english while trying to stir up controversy
