Maybe they can have a base or two named after “southern heroes,” if the US Military names a couple of bases after Native American leaders - like Osceola, Tecumseh, or Sitting Bull.
Hell, throw in a couple bases named after skilled or honourable British generals and soldiers from the Revolutionary War. If you’re going to honour people from American wars who fought against the US as well as those who fought for it, make it a consistent thing.
