I know there’s limited times for that, like the WH correspondents dinner, and the bad opening joke in every speech.
Maybe i’m conservative and just want my elected officials to act better than most of us.

More than that, performatively being an asshole is entirely the reason why someone like Boebert is even there in the first place. There’s literally no other reason.
They’re bullies. It’s what bullies find funny. It’s not really humor, it’s not functioning the same way - more generally, “conservative humor” right now is a response to things like the Daily Show; they see “the left” as having weaponized humor against them, and they’re trying to return the favor. Except all they have is anger about imaginary stuff, so you get attacks rather than actual jokes.

That is literally the entire reason why the far right, white evangelical crowd love Israel… it isn’t because they love their Jewish brothers and sisters and wish them well. They want Jesus to stomp them when he comes back.

Speaking of which, today is the 80th anniversary of the Wannsee Conference. Boebert is obviously an idiot, but amongst her fellow travellers there are no doubt some American versions of Heydrich and Eichmann waiting in the wings.
