Some far right group decided to protest a bookstore in Royal Oak Michigan that has drag queen story hour.
I don’t think they knew who they were dealing with.
Royal Oak is very LGBTQ supportive. Our daughter lives a couple blocks from here.
The city supported the bookstore, various local businesses sent food and coffee to the counter protesters.
You can see the sad little group at the opposite corner.
The Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority said in a statement that downtown is a place where LGBTQ+ people are celebrated and people from all walks of life are welcome.
“We applaud Jen and Jenny of Sidetrack Bookshop for their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and we will continue to support them, and all of our business owners in Downtown Royal Oak who are doing good and meaningful work,” the DDA said.

A crowd that police estimated reached 1,000 jammed sidewalks while, buried within it, only about a dozen people brandished bibles and held signs that proclaimed their opposition to LGBTQ lifestyles. The protesters said they especially objected to an activity going on inside the downtown’s 10-month-old Sidetrack Bookshop.
