Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a cow needs to be in wind speeds of at least 90 mph. If it was a pig those wind speeds drop to 75, and they can be laden with a pair of coconut shells. Unfortunately, neither animal is migratory.
I doubt that most of Trump’s ardent supporters truly believe that, as they adamantly insist, he won the election but was cheated from his victory due to (not little but) massive electoral fraud—a claim they cannot factually support.
Just the loss on its own seems to be proof enough that a vast ballot-fraud conspiracy had occurred. Meanwhile, they’ll vehemently deny that any form of electoral fraud may have unjustly put Trump into the White House four years ago.
Scary.
Might it be that the said group of Trump supporters consciously or subconsciously believe that he MUST remain in office for some perceived greater good—notably to save America and make it great again—regardless of his democratically-decided election loss, and all those in the majority who voted against Trump (which should not at all be a surprise) MUST be overridden?
It may be a case of that perhaps most dangerous of ideologies: the ends justify the means.
Although I’m not equating Trump or his base support to any of history’s genocidal maniacs, but the most frightful example of that philosophical justification is the genocide pogrom, the implementers of which know they’re committing mass murder yet still genuinely perceive it all as part of an ultimately greater good.
But, the sad/scary thing is, we cannot dismiss the comparison of Trump and his base with the famous genocide example, because they have echoed (and retweeted) slogans, writings, chants while marching in the streets carrying torches, and occasionally, government policies from that example.
It’s clear that most of them know perfectly well that as far as the votes go, they lost, because they’ve been complaining for years about their dwindling demographic advantages at the polls. But, they do not care. They fundamentally believe that only their opinions and beliefs matter, (those beliefs being that the government and society should favor them at the expense of other people they don’t like), and that many other people in the US do not “deserve” to be treated with respect or dignity, or be given equal treatment under the law. They long for a caste system, and expect to be at the top of if.
I never realized that the goal of the nanny state was to provide actual nannies on every corner. Think of the economic good that would do… I bet the capitalists love the idea!
