The real time sink in ESB is the final leg of travel to bespin. No hyper drive, sublight is gonna take a while.
I think that throwing him in the brig would have been a semi-reasonable thing to do, more so than what happened.
I’ve seen that poster before, but I can’t say where, lest I be guilty of “loose lips” myself.
I don’t think it was as bad as any time you saw Dooku fighting. Although he had the excuse of Christopher Lee being a very old man at the time, so he had to take it easy when fighting the young whipersnappers.
It was just always a case of the young guys doing stupid acrobatics then a single two-handed block from Dooku.
“Don’t you call me a mindless philosopher you overweight glob of grease!”
When I saw these in my local Walmart store I couldn’t help but laugh. What totally misguided Dutch marketing guy thought this was a good idea?
I ended up buying one on the after-Christmas specials for $15. You can’t get a new Norelco razor for that anywhere, which shows what a failed marketing idea it was. My 15 year old Norelco razor had been dying for a while so I was in the market anyway.
The total silliness of the thing will bring a smile to my face every morning.
Quite. Hermits look like this:
Poe’s bomber call really challenged his likeability for me as a character.
If the bombers hadn’t taken out the dreadnought, it would have blown away the rest of the Resistance ships at the next hyperspace jump.
I hadn’t thought of that although events may have unfolded the same way at that point.only under Leia’s orders.
That sentence makes me cringe every time I read it.
In the interests of full disclosure I should confess it’s just a poor use of english and I am not actually a character.
It’s male privilege to assume that women are obligated to reveal their secrets.
The overly secret nature of Leia’s plan for the evacuation didn’t make any sense. Were they concerned that said plans would cause a panic? Doubtful, if anything the lack of a clear plan was what caused a panic. Were they worried that their plans or communications would be leaked to the Empire? It’s possible but since its not mentioned at all i would say it’s unlikely. Basically the secrecy of the plan was only to string along the audience, which is a poor excuse of a plot device.
The lady admiral-generals should have EXPECTED a mutiny if they weren’t willing to treat any random underling with pale skin and a penis as if he were the real leader, entitled to a briefing and a veto over their decisions
Personally I would call that thing a Dread_much_.
It had all its deck guns taken out by a single fighter, after which a single incredibly slow for no reason bomber that drops bombs in zero gravity for no reason could spank it with a single drop.
If I was the captain of an Imperial ship, I would fear angry toddlers. There’s probably a slot somewhere that you can jam a plastic bread knife into that will blow the whole thing up, that none of your hundreds of engineering staff are aware of.
The plan was about the survival of the entire group, not sharing what the plan is to that very group is what caused the mutiny. I thought Poe’s plan was stupid but i wouldn’t say his motivation under that situation was illogical. See my comment above as to why the secrecy over the plan doesn’t make any sense, unless you have a good idea as to why.
He repeatedly disobeyed orders and intentionally put the entire resistance at risk. The bombing run was stupid, the casino thing was willful. He should have been shot dead. Poe is supposed to be a military leader, but can not follow orders.
I don’t disagree with that, i think that whole side mission was mainly bad writing but i don’t think that holding back what the plan for survival is sound either unless someone can provide a reasonable explanation as to why.
Again, because “not keeping the plan secret enough” was the only reason Benicio Del Toro was eventually able to sell them out to the First Order, resulting in 99% of the remaining resistance getting killed. It was a textbook example of why you keep military plans on a need-to-know basis.
I don’t know why the original plan was on a need-to-know basis is what i’m curious. I posted my questions in a separate post above, but i’ll quote:
Were they concerned that said plans would cause a panic? Doubtful, if anything the lack of a clear plan was what caused a panic. Were they worried that their plans or communications would be leaked to the Empire? It’s possible but since its not mentioned at all i would say it’s unlikely.
So why all the secrecy exactly? (beyond, that’s what the plot called for). In all the other movies they seem to share their plans pretty freely amongst each other.
