Just logged on to say that very thing as I saw it on Masto thanks Cory (@pluralistic) and thought it was hilarious.
Now if only we could start prosecuting our corrupt politicians here in the UK?
At least de Pfeffel had superficial charm. Which is not to say that he isn’t a horrible person, just that like many sociopaths he could deceive you for a bit before revealing himself. But Trump has literally no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. He is repulsive on every level.
Sometimes, perception performance is reality
They may not be serious. It may be performative. But if they could make it happen, they would.
Seems like he’s bonking himself on the head
Careful - while you’re probably right, that also describes the situation in November 2016.
We were the targets of violence then, too, but it’s the difference between the (relatively) occasional random attack and shoving us into rail cars. The first is still unacceptable, but the scale of the second can make it almost seem acceptable.
Is there any reason McCarthy can’t be re-elected speaker?
If she really thought there was such a thing as a “Jewish Space Laser” would she ever leave the shelter of overhead cover? Why wouldn’t she be a smoking pile of ash by now?
Hasn’t he already said he doesn’t want it?
The rules would allow him to try for re-election if he wanted to go through all that again but he’s said he won’t. And who could blame him?
I’d wager Trump couldn’t do the job, even if minions handled all the non-ceremonial aspects of it.
That is hilarious.
I think they’ll do it anyway and explain how those rules are more sort of guidelines or suggestions.
The people who are going to vote for him don’t care anyway.
In the article trump says:
I want to look at what’s happening, and then we’re going to be doing something else.
Pretty much sums up his philosophy. These guys want to burn the house down, and trump is the best man for the job.
I was reading comments under her post and other posts.
People pointed out the rule they came up with about indictments.
Nope, we wasn’t indicted while a member of congress so it don’t count.
He hasn’t been found guilty. I guess they don’t know what indictment means.
It is just a guideline and not a law.
And, if it’s not in the Constitution it’s not enforceable.
She’s quite right that he has a proven 4 year record. A 4 year record where his main efforts in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia was trying to help Russia conquer a sovereign nation. A 4 year record where he did nothing of substance on the southern border, at least in terms of increasing security. (Punching down on poor and desperate people, on the other hand…) A 4 year record where he politically weaponised the government as often as he could manage within the constraints placed upon him, and complained non- stop about those constraints. A 4 year record where he fought against the best path to true energy independence which is more green energy and less fossil fuels. A 4 year record where he mocked military veterans constantly, and only cared about police when they were being violent towards his perceived enemies. I think he probably would pass the laws regarding trans people she mentions, but not really out of any actual interest in the matter. That’s also not actually a good thing unless you’re a bigot.
Kevin McCarthy has said a lot of things.
I assume they are just “owning the libs”* and don’t imagine he is going to give up election campaign rallies (which he likes more than being president) to do an actual job.
Or perhaps they are just so weak and dependent on Trump for their popularity that they’re afraid to name anyone else until he makes it clear he doesn’t want the job.
*Sad to see the word tr#lling censored.
