One of the positive trends in the last year is how quickly liberals and progressives have slapped down various Tankies, Useful Idiots, and Dirtbag Left brocialists who tried to make a case for the legitimacy of the invasion. Some of these same types also occasionally try to make the case from the left for a “national divorce” in the U.S., with an equal lack of success.

I’m hoping that Ethiopia doesn’t slide further into that category. Right about when Yugoslavia began splitting up, someone else thought that setup would be a Good Idea. (I’m oversimplifying it; there’s surely a better answer than hegemony on the one hand and splitting ethnic boundaries in a place where individual households are, themselves, diverse)
P.S. presumably there’s some reason she’s spouting this from her personal account, not her work account. Though the latter is probably harder to block (assuming there’s anyone around to do that).

The repeal of child labour laws has been the dream of the GOP since Newt Gingrich made the position clear more than a decade ago.

She addressed the Georgia senate for about 6 minutes, she talked about protecting kids from the great delusion (her words) of gender changing procedures running rampant in Georgia.
And she talked about not being able to find workers for her construction company because no one is training these kids.
The second point has some merit, but she presents herself as running a construction company which is funny.

In her defense(sorry about that) she’s talking about getting kids into the trades and not every kid needs college to succeed but she needs that training to profit, the kids need the training to succeed or at least live indoors.
I keep saying kids but I mean young adults.
I don’t want to go off topic though.

It’s such a dumb idea but every time someone even casually suggests this as a solution to our political problems I have to point out that our country is not divided politically all nicely along the mason dixon line. It’s more like an urban/rural divide with rural and suburban parts of liberal states like california and New York voting for trump and major cities in rightwing state like iowa city and Atlanta Georgia voting heavily democratic. Sometimes those divides change neighborhood by neighborhood. Very few people would be happy with a geographic split. I mean just look how insanely they have to draw lines to gerrymander maps to their benefit.
