I didn’t think it was possible for Gingrich to stoop lower.

But he keeps on surprising me.

Yes, because any time a black person votes, that’s a stolen white vote. White baby jeebus is watching. /s

Gingrich is a bag of shit.

First of all, fuck anyone to hell who gives Newt Gingrich airtime.

Second, how is this not slander?

Newt Gingrich, poisoning political discourse as he has for decades. A lot of what we see today has its origins in the bitter and and obstructive behaviour of this ultimate Libertarian HS debate-club dweeb.

Public figure + “political trash talk”.

The bar for defamation is pretty high for someone in the public eye.

Newt Gingrich is a farcical piece of human garbage for existing at all at this point, and especially so to claim people who fight for everyone’s right to vote are somehow stealing votes.

The Republican diarrhea in the face of reality and decency started with him. I’m not surprised.

To claim Stacy Abrams is somehow stealing votes when there is not only no proof of this, but rampant systemic efforts to disenfranchise tens of millions in America by the Republican party nationally (with plenty of actual available evidence of this that can easily be cited in court) shows how desperate and pathetic his morons have become

“The objective fact is I believe Trump probably did actually carry Georgia.” This is quite I sentence to parse. I imagine is it a fact that he believes Trump won. If person X believes Y, then it is a fact that person X believes Y no matter if Y is true or false. Saying the fact is “objective” adds little to the sentence, but I’d certainly never argue when Newt says what he believes. But the most striking part to me is he won’t even says he believes Trump won Georgie. He only claims to believe Trump “probably” won. I mean if even Newt isn’t sure, then certainly he doesn’t think the election results should be changed. You’d need more than “probably” to do that.

There are so many stronger versions of this sentence. I’m surprised he didn’t use them. I suppose he’s using the “The object fact is” to mask that his statement is really only about his belief - one he’s not even sure of.

And they promote Gingrich as the “intelligent” wing of the party

Actually, on listening to the video, I think the correct transcription is “The objective fact is, I believe, Trump probably did actually carry Georgia”. Which is, he is saying “I believe the objective fact is…”. And of course anyone saying anything is stating their believes, so he is making a somewhat stronger statement: “Is it a fact that Trump probably did win Georgia”. Which is still a very strange sentence. And still not nearly as strong as what he could have said. Clearly he’s playing word games here.

So, the people whose lies do the most damage are protected by their elite status. American law in a nutshell.

Agree. Usually it’s “they” are stealing. I think he made a big boo boo by falsely accusing someone specific.

The idea that Trump won in 2020 and the election was then stolen from him will never go away. Trump will spend the next several years publicly promoting it-- he isn’t going to just disappear, as much as we all want him to. Even after his death Trumpism will be the de facto motivating force among American conservatives. It’s a cult now.

And anyway this idea that Democrats are committing massive voter fraud has been part of the GOP playbook for several years now. It’s yet another one of these wild cards they can pull out to explain away their dwindling relevance and fire up their increasingly gullible base.
