Ongoing coronavirus happenings

Take care of yourself. Do the normal things for a flu. Lots of fluids, and acetaminophen (paracetamol) to reduce fever.

Someone on Blind suggested that it already swept through NYC. Everyone he knows including himself felt mildly to severely crappy for a few days between Feb. 20 and Mar. 10.

Sounds wild, but let’s game it out. I had my ass kicked by a severe flu thing from (checks notes) Feb 19 to 21. I already WFH and barely go out, so the wife (who didn’t get sick) must have brought it back from her classroom.

I’m not a doctor but that’s definitely within the range of normal

Aaaaand, now I’m hearing that those who’ve had it can become infected again. :mask: :confounded: :expressionless: :sob:

Long Beach Unified is shutting it down for five weeks. Wow.

Maybe. Maybe they’re confused. Maybe they had something else.

I am, and you are correct. Anywhere from 97 to 100.4 deg F is considered normal.

Where can I get me some of that Blimd? All I have is Scotch, and drinking it makes me less optimistic, not more.

Maybe.

I know 98.6° F is an example of, what’s it called, over-precision?

Body temp was estimated to be 37° C and then converted to 98.6 as if all the digits were significant

Don’t buy that yet. Best of our knowledge there haven’t been repeat offenders yet, and most viral infections result in some degree of immunity due to these wonderful things called memory B cells. While not a guarantee, and not always life long, it is a pretty ingenious if Rube Goldbergian system.

Nope; I’d rather fucking not.

Yeah, thanks. “Maybe” means my money is still in my hands.

One of my housemates was brutally sick for much of January

but it’s hard to believe a deadly disease swept through the country months ago and nobody noticed

80% of cases involve mild symptoms. Some are asymptomatic. As well, our response to detection and prevention has been abysmal. One wonders!

in this case “mild” means “not requiring hospitalization”
