Interestingly, all the upscale stores around here still have everything except maybe some canned stuff. Also, if anyone is looking for a place that still has dried and preserved staples, cheaper than at Whole Paycheck, you can check out your local asian markets. All the ones around here are still fine. The staples might not be the ones youāre used to, but itās a good chance to expand your culinary horizons.
The risk of death is directly tied to the risk of infection. Docs, and particularly primary care docs, tend to skew older, but if you correct for age, i doubt we are at greater risk of death.
Now that ISIS have been told to avoid Europe thereās never been a safer time to travel!!
Unnecessary /S ?
Iām glad to hear that. I had an impression that in Wuhan medics seemed to die disproportionately.
We did that too. It will end badly for us, but we refuse to learn from italy, so it goes on.
Who?
That seems like an awfully long time agoā¦
Generally, and there are unexplained variations between countries, about 20% require some medical intervention, IV fluids, oxygen, antibiotics for secondary infections, etc, and about 5% require ICU level care. How many of those actually wind up ventilated is unclear, but unless it is a vanishingly tiny percentage (it is not) it does not really matter. In al,most any model, need for ICU beds outstrips supply by orders of magnitude.
I guess things have not reached that level here as they are just buying tp, hence the mystery. FYI, a bidet is just a fancy indoor hose.
So none of those links worked?
Arse!
Yup, same here. Not a secret by any means.
Go watch the interview if you havenāt alreadyā¦here is the article.
Iām sorry But I know you love her and will care for her as best you can and as much as she will allow.
I have relatives with their head in the sand, too. Even some of the clinicians in my family are taking some pretty significant risks to try to maintain a semblance of normalcy like going out to eat on Friday evening. Which you would normally not really think of as a big risk, but thatās just the point: THESE ARE NOT NORMAL TIMES!
Iām not mad at them or seething at them in a rage or anything - just cautiously waiting for the other shoe to drop. And trying to remember to be kind, and calm, and to remind my friends and family of the seriousness of this pandemic and how it is not far away: itās right here with us now and will be for quite some time.
The cituation with Chelsea and Snowden certaily is close to what China is doing to their doctors, Assange not so much as he is neither a US citizen nor resident. I still consider his percecution reflects rather pathetically on the US.
As far as china finally getting it together, I think we just found the one good silver linning to a totalitarian regime with a mass control and surveillance aparatus. Epidemic control. Jokes aside, I could not be happier for the population of China, I thought it was going to end, much much worse for them.
Iāve been plotting the U.K. government data on a log graph for the last few days and itās clear that itās going to be a shit-show within the next two weeks. We need to be taking the action now, like today, to arrest the growth in numbers.
Got another quick question if you wouldnāt mindā¦
Would an expedient ventilator adjustable for tidal volume and respiratory rate, but without a PEEP function be any use against this monster?
I think in about 10 days, the health service will be overwhelmed here. Itās really just a question of by how much.
Wuhan medics were (like here) disproportionately exposed, therefore.
I presume youāve heard about their unique Herd Immunity plan?
All I can think is 28 Days Later
Yeah, heard about that shite. The phrase social Darwinism came to mind.
