Oops! Elon Musk and Donald Trump interview is hit with "massive DDOS attack"

While I agree technically with what you’re saying, that’s a failure to properly provision resources. If it was an attack, it comes from outside, and is unpredictable. This here? Just a continuation of Musk’s inability to understand that services need well-maintained, properly-scaled infrastructure.

I thought that tweet was dripping with sarcasm before I saw who authored it.

I haven’t listened to or read any of the interview but I"m imagining the time Chris Farley interviewed Paul McCartney… Watch Saturday Night Live Clip: The Chris Farley Show: Paul McCartney - NBC.com

Unless X has offices/servers in Salt Lake City, or his plane is traveling by itself, Musk was a little far from the levers of control last night.

He seems nice.

That response has campaign spokesman and 'roid-rage case Steven Cheung written all over it.

…always quite fond of Marina Hyde’s bemused take on the ample political dark corners

Would you like to travel in the advance party to Mars, aboard the space rocket of a man who can’t sort a livestream? Ideally you would have to get in line for this species-level honour behind thousands of Earth’s leading shitposters, who not only trust implicitly in X owner Elon Musk, but truly believe that if they grind away for hours a day telling him that on his platform, one day he will see one of those posts. I hope he does, guys!

Anyway, from the future of the red mist planet to the future of political discourse: Monday night’s conversation between Musk and Donald Trump on X (audio only, only almost an hour late, and only for massively fewer live listeners than advance estimates suggested). It was so dysfunctional that even Trump’s dentures were trying to escape. Hours after it had taken place, Musk issued an intriguing APB: “Anyone have a <1 hour edit of the highlights of the @realDonaldTrump conversation?” To which the only reply is: sorry … what? That is like NBC putting out a request reading: “does anyone have any highlights of the Olympics?” YOU OWN THE PLATFORM. How can you not have organised some highlights?!

(she’s not alone blaming the lisp on trump-dentures, yet surely he’d have implants? [shrug] … i’ll retain a wild theory that the slur comes from problems more up the rotting spinal cord)

Given the source it’s hard not to reflexively assume that the “massive DDOS” thing is a complete lie; the only thing that serves to, incrementally, salvage its potential plausibility is that poking one of the more resource-intensive features of a platform that has been cut to the bone, at a time when it would embarrass the owner, seems like the sort of thing that would both amuse someone and satisfy their curiosity about how much more brittle the new management has made it.

I’d be about 95% on ‘lie’; but given the amount of technical attrition at twitter and the (honestly pretty alarming) amount of DDOS capacity sloshing around; I wouldn’t totally rule out ‘for the lulz’/or someone trying a quiet shakedown against Musk.

By way of context; I haven’t heard a peep(other than MS actually acknowledging it without having it dragged out of them and burying it on a friday afternoon, like the last time it happened) on why someone mounted a relatively massive DDOS attack on Azure on the 30th; and that would have involved actual resources compared to hassling twitter a bit.

Given his age, his eating habits, and his state of arrested development, I can easily see him avoiding dentist appointments until after it was too late to replace his Coke-rotted teeth with implants.

That, and the dentist wanted to be paid upfront.

So, when is the date for the Musk / Kamala live stream?

The UK Independent also weighed in on the likelihood of it being a technical SNAFU versus an actual DDOS.

The Harris campaign is pouncing hard on the tech issues. Good; hit them where they live.

“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,”

Mar-a-Lago only sits a few feet above high tide level, according to a quick search. Of course, I think Trump’s counting on it not being underwater (either financially or literally) until after he’s dead, so why should he care?

No. Lex was at least a competent CEO, despite rarely winning against Superman and using a bit too much of LexCorp’s resources towards that goal.

That looks like a scene from The Haunted Mansion.
