Say, does anyone remember that guy who used to play piano chords to Nicki Minaj just talking, or that Orson Welles champagne ad, and make it jazz?
Yup, thank you!
Ooof. It’s still not fixed. Just following her key changes by modulating up or down ain’t gonna do it.
You’re not wrong. The pianist did a good job trying to keep up with this… performance, but something something lipstick and pigs something.
Considering the stage shape I wonder if some participants simply assumed it sounded better in the original German.
The symbolism works.
Oof, still not nearly “fixed” enough. Too painful to sit through the whole thing. The accompaniment does make it clearer how warped the singing is, though - I would have thought it was some sort of deliberate performance art if it weren’t at CPAC. Where. Did. They. Find. That. Woman.
Wow, that’s infinitely more musically pleasing than the “singer” at CPAC… (As, I suspect, just Cardi B yelling would have been.)
Good try on the pianists part, but I could only listen to about a minute of it.
I don’t think the two are at all mutually exclusive, at this point. lol I mean you’ve been around the past few years, right?
I honestly feel bad for her. As someone who has sung the SSB in front of large crowds I know that - at least for me - it’s absolutely nerve wracking. It’s not the easiest song to perform to begin with, but then the added layers of being the singular focus of the crowd while singing a cherished song (at friggin CPAC) makes it extremely difficult to pull off well.
It’s performance art, it’s not just that self-aware…
On that stage she should have been singing the Horst-Wessel-Lied.
This is the parkour of the piano accompaniment world.
Looked like Kevon at the beginning there was girding his loins for the atrocity to be.
Challenging gig.
On one level I think it is, actually. The theatrics are working in a sense, the fan base eats it up, Trump is firmly in control of the GOP at this point. It may be cartoonish and not appeal to people like you and me, but it certainly appeals to some folks.
“The more tasteless, disgusting, clueless and classless we are, the more the libs hate us. Her performance was perfect!”
