I’ve never really understood the theme of “Rennisance fairs”. They seem to be vaguely medieval Britain in theme with knights and things, and not at all about the Rennisance and Venice and Florence.

I think they’re using turkey because pheasants are less common, expensive and tends to be dry, normally is cooked in wine .

In most Non-British English, corn is the common word for maize.
British English uses the word corn generally, for any grain, like wheat.
So if you’re not in the UK, you were probably right the first time.
For the record, the vast majority of corn and soy are not eaten by humans but rather fed to livestock and/or made into industrial products (including ethanol for cars). That’s why they’re subsidized.
