Police set dog on a driver who politely refuses to answer questions

No human should be treated this way…
Having said that, Sovereign Citizen types really grind my gears. It is like they came for the Natural Rights lecture but left before the Social Contract part.

both people can be in the wrong, and in this case, both were in the wrong. Driving without a license plate is a ticket, nothing more. Driving without one is just begging for cops to come knocking.

Well, maybe somebody can institute some sort of “justice system” whereby such crimes result in a person’s removal from society for counselling and/or medicating.

The Social Contract? Not a real thing.
You can’t be born into a contract, that you by the way cannot opt out of, and that is only enforceable by one party.
But we can acknowledge power. Though “authority” doesn’t exist, the power of authority figures to cause harm is real. That’s what makes them so dangerous.

Time to bust this out again:

I get into the same thing about pit bulls, people wanting to be pedantic about staffordshire terriers whatever. It’s a dog with a huge head and ridiculously powerful jaws that can tear your head off whatever you want to call it. Toy Poodles might bite more but they can’t kill you. Plus I don’t like Shepherds either, was bitten as a kid.

That’s illegal. You literally can’t do that.
That’s Government property out there.

Not going to argue that a theoretical construct is a real thing.
However, we do live in a society that we actively participate in. Perhaps it is power that keeps us here, but theoretically we do have options a) put up with it b) peacefully change it C) violently change it or d) leave it altogether (good luck with the Wolves). But no matter what, society exists, even if we never signed on for it.

You could let them build up for a few days and do a police brutality binge.

Part of that is that a lot of US police dogs are apparently imported and arrive partially trained in the language of the country they were born in. Some police forces continue training the dogs in those languages (often German, Dutch or Czech), both because it’s easier and so other people are less likely to be able to give commands to the dogs.

For similar reasons, the elephants at London Zoo were trained to respond to commands from their keepers in Sinhalese.

No. You need to start training your police. Bravery is not an innate quality, it is very much teachable. Tech them communication, threat assessment, de-escalation and non-violent submission techniques, and you’d get quite far. How many weeks of training does the average police officer in the US have?

No agreement exists between governments and their people. Society and government are separate and opposing entities. Nevertheless, authority isn’t real. Thus there’s no reason that a police officer should have any more right to commit acts of violence than any regular person. Nor should they expect to be obeyed on the basis of authority alone (the “Appeal to authority” fallacy). Nor should they expect deference and leniency when they misuse the power that’s been lent to them. If the threat of violence is all that they bring to the table than they really are the garbage they’re made out to be. “Just doing my job” is not an excuse. The doer still must take full responsibility for actions they’ve personally taken even when those actions are pursuant to the goals of a hierarchical organizations of which they are a member. This guy tortured a man on the road side using a vicious dog. If police officers were held to the same standard of conduct that our soldiers have to adhere to than this fellow would be going away for a long long time. But he’s a cop, a privileged class ordained by your rulers, and is thus held to a lower set of standards then any other person walking the street.

Sure, but one party is far more wrong than the other. Only one party directly put at risk the life of this moron and this dog, and that’s the cops. Police need to learn to de-escalate, but that’s fundamentally at odds with the mentality of too many cops. I’ve seen it time and time again in my own interactions as well as in those of others in person and on video. Cops often escalate situations because they’d prefer to ‘teach someone a lesson’ rather than just walk away. I don’t know enough about the context of this particular stop to know if they could have waited him out or approached things differently, but I know there is no reason to sic a dog on a man sitting in a car talking. The man or the dog could have been killed. There was still broken glass sticking up out of the window frame and the dog should not have been exposed to that unless it was a matter of life or death.

I use my white privilege to give cops a hard time.

They know that some white guys even they should not fuck with. Maybe I am one of those. I sure seem to be.

I’ve pulled over to observe traffic stops. I’ve loitered, clearly watching what they’re up to. I talk back to them when they get passive aggressive. Thing about powertrippers is they live in a world of fear. I’m glad to make them wonder from time to time. When I see something, I say something. To them.

More power too you! I only hope that after the Badenov “treatment”, they don’t later take out their lingering frustration on someone with an “easier-to-fuck-with-and-get-away-with-it” profile.
