Entry into Tasmania also requires a 14-day quarantine, BTW. The government pays for a hotel room or equivalent, and you aren’t allowed to leave it for any reason until the quarantine is done. This applies to mainland Australians as well as international travellers.
The Tas state government is talking about working towards a reciprocal no-quarantine travel arrangement with NZ, though.

Same for a friend of mine who traveled from Dubai to his parent’s in Kuwait (where I think his oldest son is staying), and back to Doha where his wife and other two kids are… last time I talked with him, he was in a hotel room… Mubarak Ramadan, I guess…
