JMHO. Mixed up, as in “confused”… yes. But some of it is playground tactics. They know they’re behaving fascistically and rightly being described as being fascist… so all they can do in their silly “not me… you!” ploy is call the other side fascists, a tactic that – as stupid as it seems – will work for a segment of their genius base.

Um, no. You cannot realistically describe Biden as a Communist. The right wing talks like the whole of their opposition is in the Weather Underground or something. They’re not. Even when the hard left, the real Communist left, was a thing, it wasn’t that big a thing. Not near big enough to win a national election.

Of course, in American politics, “communist” = “anyone more politically left than I am”, which as far as MTG is concerned covers pretty much everybody who is not a right-wing extremist like herself.
Also, as everyone knows, “communist” = “socialist”, and “fascist” = “national socialist”, so they’re obviously all socialists! And communists!! So there.

Agreed. The projective slander is as plain as the crazy in her eyes, but NOT to the MAGAcap base. It’s nothing but a chorus of dog-whistles, intended to keep them in a frothing rage so that they work to intimidate the ‘left’ (and everyone NOT in the Cult). Oh, and she supposes that voting might be kind of important, too, but ONLY as long as the RIGHT people can vote.
She and every other MAGAcap really have given up on anything resembling ‘cogent legislation’, and have chosen to focus on tearing down anything and everything that they don’t like. It’s a death-frenzy, to be sure, given how the very foundations of the MAGAcap power, White Christian Nationalism, is collapsing like the sandcastle it always was, and all they can do is scream and flail.

To be fair, it’s not just those using communist as a “scary word,” that are misusing it. In no meaningful sense is the Chinese Communist Party “communist” anymore. It’s probably too capitalist to regard it as fascist, but IMHO it is best described as an authoritarian Han ethnostate. Authoritarians often cloak themselves in many different labels, which can create some confusion.

Imperialist too. Tibet and Xinjiang are settler colonies where Han Chinese outnumber the indigenous peoples, and China wants to reconquer Taiwan, which is a former Chinese colony.
