The whole QAnon thing was wacko from the beginning, so it’s not like it’s difficult for them to just double-down on the wacko-ness of it all.
And the fact is, even ignoring “Q”, anyone willing to believe Trump was going to "drain the swamp"and usher in a new golden age, well, they were a willing sucker from the get go.

“Ignore them and they’ll destroy themselves” is about as useful a strategy for dealing with fascists as “the worse, the better” or “hate the sin, love the sinner”. The smug and complacent privilege that allows one to offer such advice can be stripped away so quickly once it backfires.

This is how we got here in the first place… federal law enforcement did not treat the rise of the far right militias as a serious systemic problem to be addressed. Instead they took the narrative of “lone wolves” at face value and ignored the white supremacist network. The leaders were doing their best to colonize the GOP from the bottom up, and look what they got out of it… They elected a president with their agenda.
Time to recognize this for what it is… a fascist movement that needs to be opposed at all costs.
