Not long after her election to Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., helped raise money for a super PAC by appearing in a video ad that tests the boundaries of rules limiting fundraising by elected officials.
The ad explicitly asks for money for the Stop Socialism Now PAC, an entity that can accept unlimited donations. But candidates and elected officials are not allowed to solicit contributions greater than $5,000, according to campaign finance experts.
Well, I expect the House Ethics Committee to spring into action and immediately investigate this, and then top levy a harsh penalty should they find that she’s violated the rules.
Hahahahaha. Just kidding. I expect that they will do nothing.
I’m replying to my own post to expand on this point. The way I see MTG is the way I see someone who reads nothing but comic books. Their worldview is intentionally skewed for them. They know at least from their own contact with the real world that the universe isn’t the one found in comic books but they don’t care. The comic books gives them certainty in their actions even if they’re totally wrong to do such actions or that their conclusions as a whole are flawed. This means that they’re fully capable of understanding reality from fantasy, otherwise why would they choose fantasy over reality? SImply put, MTG’s entire worldview is a diet of a narrowly defined version of the Bible and InfoWars (plus some other antisemitic conspiracy claptrap). And with that informational diet she won’t accept anything that conflicts with it. So she’s an ill informed asshole, not mentally unwell and definitely not suffering some kind of persistent psychosis. She’s just a willfully ignorant asshole that needs a swift kick upside her head.
