I don’t think that’s a fair characterization. I imagine that the attackers considered themselves revolutionaries or guerrillas of some kind and their motivation was not a love of murder but a commitment to what they saw as their duty. But at this point that’s all any of us can do: imagine.
Another way of looking at this is that people willing to take these steps don’t really care about your disapproval - they’re going to take action regardless, they’ll just do it in a more isolated and wingnutty way. But respecting their commitment and militance and being willing to claim that as part of the movement can lead to better decisions and more effective action on everyone’s part.
In all seriousness, what does the black and latino community in Dallas say about it? Do they agree that the DPD is transparent? And only communities who’ve suffered a direct loss should protest against systemic racism?
According to PopSci the police taped a bomb to a bomb disposal robot and blew up a shooter in the parking garage. I’m not sure if this is brilliant or awful.
You do realize that much of this only very recently applied to everyone and in actual fact is still tilted towards certain groups of people. People fought and died to gain access to these rights. They were not given on day one. Some are still struggling to be able to fully exercise them without violent repercussions.
Everyone knows that only white dudes are logical - not hysterical white ladies, like me!
Good. Start calling that shit out when you see it. Do a little bit in your little corner of the country, I’ll do a little bit in mine, and maybe, things will get just a tiny bit better. Maybe one day we can heal from this huge wound we all inhabit and actually be a country instead of collection of tensions and anger.
“We’ve got a criminal investigation going on and our number one job is to make sure the citizens of Dallas are safe,” Mayor Rawlings said Friday morning.
What does that mean for people who refuse police protection? Being subject to the actions of others is only “protection” if you trust them.
So yeah I went to sleep last night with little to no information on this other than gunfire at the even… and now. WTFF people. I am pissed at the police being ready to fire their weapons at the slightest hint of fear of a black man. I am pissed that the guys whatever the fuck color they are who perpetrated this incident. Stealing from John McLaughlin, “YOU ARE WRONG! YOU ARE ALL WRONG! KILLING PEOPLE THIS WAY IS NOT THE FUCKING ANSWER! EVER!”
And now I am going to go look at kitten pictures for the rest of the day just to stay sane thank you very much.
