Just FYI, the NRA and tRump have made statements about the shootings in Dallas. Still nothing on Sterling and Castile…
So. Yeah.

There is no cause so noble that it won’t attract fuckheads.
Wretched little people like this love to throw fuel on the fire but totally lack anything of any value in finding a solution.
Remember, to him a “race war” is the solution. Half of the NRA mofos are praying for an excuse to shoot anyone whose skin is darker than a grocery bag.
Are you talking about the same government that is waging war in the middle east under precisely these conditions?
Oh, he has, it’s just wrong.

(although note that he’s also getting criticism from the right for calling their deaths senseless rather than backing up the police)
They do. Where is the disavowal of this brutality from police spokespeople after ANY of these murders of unarmed/subdued/restrained black men? Instead, we get stone faced cops and reminded how ‘dangerous the job’ is. And I won’t even get into the kind of shit that is posted day in and day out in police FaceBook groups. If I was a cop, I would be telling anybody and everybody who would listen that these murders are WRONG, and that I DO NOT support summarily executing black men. Where are the good cops fighting this from the inside? Where are ANY cops speaking out against this at all?
P.S. I am about to go postal on a few relatives that keep posting ‘#alllivesmatter’ and ‘just pulling the race card’ shit on FaceBook. They are armed to the fucking gills, WORSHIP the police, and so fucking willfully ignorant that arguing with them is guaranteed hair-pulling frustration within minutes. And I have a sick feeling they are the rule in this country, not the exception.
It might be more accurately described as an occupation than a war. Either way, it’s not what I am paying them to do in either place. What is the “social contract” for armed occupation like? And if they are using violence in your name, are you not already implicated? I am interested to know what recourse is when groups like this claim to be our paid murder squads. “Call the police” on themselves does not work. Citizens need to be more accepting of their own authority and capacity to act, because expecting a government to objectively investigate itself is a conflict of interest.
I avoid the internet one night to try to be good and get to bed on time, and I miss this crazy shit. Wowza. Is there a good place that aggregates details as they emerge?
Unfortunately, I don’t think you can find a non-racist country.
Yes, I do realize this. For many the prison has never ended and they don’t have full exercise of them. Not sure if I said something that made it would like the civil rights act somehow leveled the playing field and made everything A-OK for everybody. There was and is systematic oppression and violence directed at certain populations, particularly Black Americans.
Is there a good place that aggregates details as they emerge?
Never mind, maybe I don’t want to know…
Remember when Joe Walsh was a Member of the Eagles and not some ex-Congressman nut.
What happened to the shooter who was holed up somewhere?
Dead. Three others in custody. Looks like an Army PFC played a part.
Sadness.
Where are ANY cops speaking out against this at all?
Let’s not overlook Cleveland Police Officer Nakia Jones:
Yes, the last word would come from the local black community, for whom I do not have handy references. Still, Balko is an established harsh critic of police misconduct whose opinion should carry weight.
That video, if anything, is evidence that Officer Jones needs a promotion into leadership.
Using the tools of your oppressor makes you the oppressor.
That’s a bumper-sticker slogan which breaks down very quickly under examination. Any decent oppressor utilizes a variety of really useful tools. The best oppressors make use of every tool in existence to maintain their power. Throwing out all tools that are employed by oppressors is effectively abandoning resistance.
That’s not to say that every option should always be on the table, just that we need a more intelligent and nuanced rubric for deciding what approaches are useful or not.
Sigh.
And what was that important action?
Sigh.
Eh - I don’t think the two have anything to do with one another. They had that other shit planned awhile ago.
I think it shows their priorities. They had lawsuits over transgender students planned a while ago, but they have no plans for actually fixing the actual problems that the country is facing.
Right! After all, everyone knows that working to alleviate tension and violence between the police and black people is at the very top of the republicans’ To-Do List.
