He played the governor’s chief of staff in “Benson”.

Say what you want about Star Trek, but has there ever been an IP that treated cast members as an extended family the way this one has?

You can be in DS9 and have TNG people share in the pain of loss. You can be a 3rd string character (not in this case obv) and have The Shat or Takei take the time to say something.

I think that’s remarkable.

Damn, I wasn’t expecting that one. In addition to DS9 and Benson, I remember him most for stealing the show in City of Angels on Broadway.

TIL that MASH was his first credited film role.

Aww, Odo was one of my favorites. So sad.

First Big Bird/Oscar the Grouch (Caroll Spinney) now Odo? Ouch.

I’d quite forgotten he was in an episode of Stargate, though I do recall the episode with some prompting.

The main things that spring to mind (aside from DS9) were his bits on Frasier, and as the voice of the skeleton in The Last Unicorn.

Shatner did also have a prominent role in Boston Legal, so it is not at all unexpected to hear from him, at least.

(Kinda regret I didn’t watch more of that show. Shatner and Auberjonois, and John Larroquette and Candice Bergen, too.)

Wasn’t Neelix also on that?

I loved him in everything he did. I think I might have seen him first in Boston Legal.

And in Robert Altman’s Brewster McCloud.

He descended from Napoleonic royalty…somehow unsurprising.

Auberjonois voiced the cat king’s advisor in the Ghibli film, The Cat Returns.

Odo vs Quark cat-and-mouse game was one of the things that carried the early seasons. Even my Mom got hooked thanks to those two. It was the first and last sci-fi we watched together, so DS9 will always be special to me. Thank you, Odo, and rest in peace.

Au revoir, René.

A fine actor, a man of many wonderful performances. We are all diminished by his exit from the stage.
