They probably won’t go that overt unless control of the legislature is on the line.
No sense in showing their hands before the midterms; the idea is to keep the center sedated until it’s too late.

As far as I can tell, most military folks fall under the more traditional version of conservative, rather than the modern crazy pants version. HOWEVER, the religious right has been spending the last couple decades trying to take over the military, and it’s probably worth noting.

That’s true but in the south it’s a feature not a bug. This also goes for the southwest. You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig… unless you’re from Alabama then it’s a date.

Keep telling yourself that and we’ll never fix our collective problems. There are most certainly bigots in the south, but there are also lots of people down here fighting the good fight, and it’s incredibly disheartening when you assume that we’re all alike down here. We’re actually on the front line of these culture wars. It’s far easier to feel superior when you are fully ensconced in a bubble that makes you think the problem is someone/somewhere else. It’s not. The problem is all around you, not just in some far off place that you don’t give a damn about.
I’m not suggesting we treat with obviously hostile entities, but we need to fight for the people populating these fences that do divide us. Lots of those fence sitters are down here. Do you really think that your insults is going to make them think that you care about these issues?
When a man continues to deny he lost an election despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary then that should tell you a lot about how trustworthy his denials are in general.
