Tommy “on the internet forever and now known world-wide as an asshole” Callaway is still insisting that he actually meant to “tap her on the shoulder or back”. Rather difficult to believe even if the video didn’t capture this fuck-head clearly focusing on her backside and smiling after doing so and not immediately turning back to her to apologize for his “mistake”.

I think the simplest call-out for this guy is to point out that he was using an underhanded softball pitch and not an overhanded baseball pitch motion. It doesn’t follow that he intended to touch her shoulder.

Further pedantry here. Those are the definitions of the intentional torts of assault and battery in civil law in the US. The definitions in criminal law are, in some jurisdictions, slightly different. In criminal law in some jurisdictions, assault can involve physical contact.

I don’t know why he thinks all 11 million people who watched that video are so stupid they can’t recognize the most obvious ass slap in the world. Again, he should just come out and say “yeah, I slapped her ass”. Better, now that he’s facing charges, his lawyer should tell him to shut up and get out of the news cycle.
