Rush Limbaugh dead at 70

Giving all those toxic voices a national audience didn’t strip them of power and influence, it merely normalized and empowered them further.

Hilarious that a Republican actually sponsored that, and they couldn’t remove it from Bill Cosby.

Long long ago in the stone age, when I was eleven, and home sick for the week with the chicken pox and a 102 degree fever, I had nothing to do in my fever delirium but surf channels on the TV. I found this show with a funny man who was so clearly full of it that it had to be one of those parody shows, he even emphasised the stupid things he was saying by shaking his head so hard his jowls wagged around. He was hilarious, and kept my hallucinating eleven year old self entertained most of the week. That’s about how long it took me to realise that wait… I think he’s serious. Then my addled eleven year old self was mostly thinking “WTF? How did someone that stupid get their own TV show? Does he know they put him out there for people to laugh at? Someone should tell him!”

That is the closest to a nice thing I have to say about Limbaugh. May he rot.

And it’s not that you shouldn’t say bad things about the dead, it’s that you shouldn’t say false things about them. Limbaugh was a horrible person.

I would completely agree if only you’d written ‘overestimate’.

It made me wonder if he would have changed anything while alive, if he knew how many people would be wildly celebrating his death?

Nah, probably not.

He reveled in this sort of thing. “Triggering the libs,” and all.

When he first started airing in Houston, there existed, believe it or not, radio talk shows moderated by Moderates… and they were talk shows. He single-handedly denigrated the genre & spawned scads of cheap imitators. Now, they all try to out-Fascist each other while whipping their slack-jawed listeners into a mindless frenzy.
The man deserves an out-house for a headstone, so all those he shat on can return the favor.

ETA:
I heard about his unlamented demise on the radio & about an hour later the power came back on (after nearly 2 days).
The day just keeps getting better & better.
Hope the lights stay on (and others get theirs).
