San Francisco salon owner who released video of Pelosi getting her hair washed is sad she lost her business

Pelosi gets a haircut so she is just as bad as Mitch McConnell and Louie Gohmert? Bernie is literally a hermit who doesn’t play well with others. If you had 100 Bernies in the Senate you’d have 100 mutually incompatible Senators from 100 different political parties.

Did I say that?

You say that, but he seems to get along just fine with people who aren’t racist fascists. In fact he seems to get along well with people who are actually, you know, fucking left.

99% of congressional dems ain’t left. They’re center right. The US has no actual left-leaning party. Just a business party and a business party that doesn’t actively try to kill people (excuse me) doesn’t actively try to kill Americans who are also in America.

So, people not going to a barber who may videotape them and release the footage without permission is “leftist politics”? I know Republicans aren’t big on privacy, but I think even most of them would steer clear. She trashed her own reputation by opening up the possibility that it could happen to any of her customers.

The guy who worked on Pelosi said that he confirmed it was okay for her to be in the salon with the salon owner prior to the appointment. During that phone call, the salon owner made a bunch of nasty remarks about Pelosi, although she gave him the go-ahead. After the tape was released, the stylist said that the salon owner had been violating the rules in SF for months by having customers come into the salon so her motivation for releasing the tape of Pelosi to Fox News had to be political.

She lost her business due to “leftist politics” or maybe possibly due to COVID - we’ll never know which it “really” was. /s

But it’s important to note she got over $300k from a GoFundMe so I’m sure she’ll be not only fine but far better off than many small businesses faired during the pandemic.

It’s the new feudalism.

Republicans and Ayn-Caps believe in caveat emptor, that a business is the fiefdom of capitalism and that the owner of it is it’s lord. They also believe that all rules and laws must come from King Don to be valid, which is why they don’t believe they have to wear masks or be vaccinated.

All genuinely left-wing politics is anti-monarchist at it’s heart, and has been since the Levellers and Diggers were fighting against the Royalists in the English Civil War (and probably earlier, although we are talking proto-socialism at that point). The Republicans have moved so far to the right that they have ironically become the party of monarchism. Just don’t call your king a king, it will be treasonous to shatter the illusion.

She literally had the mask off for a few seconds. The salon owner was clearly politically motivated not concerned about covid-19. The salon owner was in breach of covid-19 rules herself by opening for indoor services when she should not have.

Here’s a paranoid fantasy: her business was already going under because it’s a salon in COVID times, and with little to lose, she saw an opportunity to sell footage to conservative media and maybe drum up more clients via exposure. Planned to spin the whole thing as shock and outrage at COVID safety violation so as to preserve her reputation. In her cleverness, forgot to consider that the “being a decent human being to others” angle could thwart plans.

Well, that is infuriating! I don’t check out go fund me pages often, but is it normal for so many of the donations to come from “anonymous?”
You know you’re supporting a cause you can be proud of when you don’t want your name associated with it!*

*yes, I know, sometime philanthropists want to remain anonymous for reasons of humility. Just saying.

Oh crap. I have not one but two bookshelves like that.

I can only hope they were brought in for the photo op.

So, masks are OK when Speaker Pelosi has to wear them but not when you do?

How do you spell “Republican?” H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E

I for one would not trust aesthetic decisions to someone
who decided to look like that.

Does that cross the line?

And Barbara Lee!!!

Something I’ve not seem explained: Were there warning signs the place was under video scrutiny and recording?

I don’t care if the cameras were honking obvious, were there signs? I wouid want to know before I even began my visit and would want to see a written privacy policy regarding data retention and use.

Super common. You have all of the usual reasons for philanthropy to remain anonymous, but then your basic internet harassment concerns.

I always think about Katie Porter too.

Have you not been inside a city in the last 15 years? You’re under constant unavoidable video surveillance in both public and private whether you see cameras or not. Nobody is required to put up signage as long as they don’t audio record and run afoul of recording consent laws.

As long as there’s no expectation of privacy, and a place of public accommodation generally doesn’t bear that expectation except for places like the bathroom or private clubs, there’s no requirement to get consent to record. The main floor of a salon is by no means private and recording recording everyone there is fine.

Legally speaking.

She has an infestation of cameras? Should she have called an exterminator or an exorcist?
