School board members quitting to avoid threatening, hostile crowds

School boards were a flawed concept from the get go and this is just a wider manipulation of narrow local elections by wealthy Republican donors based on the success of religious takeovers in more insular areas. It’s why advocate groups have been traveling the country to yell at school boards, why right wing opinion column writers are at their local school boards, and it’s the same playbook as suing college campuses for being government institutions limiting speech based on the Westboro Baptist church.

We have major glaring flaws in our public systems that people want to overlook based on feel good sophistry. Meanwhile other people are spending millions to enrich themselves because enraging dumb white people is cheap and can bully the political will they need for their cheap buck into existence. Hell Erik Prince has been on Tucker Carlson as their anti-war expert to explain why the US failed in Afghanistan because of Democrats.

And the strongest nation-wide opposition to this shit is blaming foreign governments so that “our side’s” people abusing government contracts get their preferred ones.

indeed. this country feels real hot and dry right now, and given the escalation of words and actions coming from the heavily armed GOP… i’d expect a spark to try and light it soon.

Why do you have school boards? With that amount of power?
Surely you should then also have prison boards, based on the same principle: If any of your kids attend, you can be on the board.

Yeah. The B-Ark thing would’ve been an option if Mr Adams hadn’t undermined it. It’s his ‘Einstein’s Biggest Blunder’ (which may yet turn out to be right, so who am I to cavil?).
