Unfortunately yes, perhaps worse outside urban areas and upper middle class enclaves, sometimes even on university campuses. It is still a problem both in personal interaction and in workplaces and for some economic privilege allows them to surround themselves with tolerant people, but it can be unfriendly for those outside the affluence bubble.
