Taco Bell exec is suing the Uber driver he beat up for $5 million

Does anyone have this guy’s address?

Um, seriously uncalled for.

Yeah?

As a result of the overwhelming media coverage, Golden says he suffered
severe emotional distress, humiliation, anxiety and the loss of his job.

I hope he loses a lot more than that before this is over.

Thanks for voicing this. I’d like to see the same care taken to let people know that graphic violence is about to be shown, as we do with graphic sexuality.

Ah, okay, that’s fair. I can see it being really traumatic for the driver. And this adds nothing but insult to injury.

Could this be considered a SLAPP suit?

Because as negotiation tactic it’s surely backfiring far worse than ever anticipated. But if it’s merely some way to force the driver to give up the lawsuit so they can do some private settlement with a gag order…

So, another contender has stepped up for the title of Biggest Douche.

Apparently he didnt want to let Pharma Douche Martin Shkreli just run away with it.

No, no. Let’s blame him. Maybe later he can sue his lawyer for giving him this dickish advice. And maybe in the future, other lawyers will think twice before offering similar advice …

Martin Shkreli is no longer the lone nimrod.

Also “does not have the money to fight frivolous litigation”.

Can’t follow you there, I’m afraid.

You might argue that the perp didn’t deserve to lose his job over something that had nothing to do with the job. Perhaps, though it does seem like a sort of rough justice was done.

But look what he’s doing now. Golden Boy still has money. He still has lawyers. And he’s going to go after the Uber driver again. He’s going to get people to sue him until he loses his car, his house, his family. He is doing this when he is sober, and because he wants to. And perhaps the only thing that might stop him is that other people are watching.

“Don’t like” isn’t trauma, that’s the whole reason I posted, idiot (seems we’re using insults now).

I’m going further: If you’re easily triggered you should better stay away from the intertubes - but being offended or “don’t liking” something is no reason to censor other people.

See, that’s the funny thing–people frequently get shamed for mentioning their triggers, so it’s possible that they might try to soften their assertion about that–by saying, say “I don’t like this” instead of “this is viscerally upsetting to me and brings up past trauma.”

And once more, for the people in the back: ASKING FOR A CONTENT WARNING IS NOT CENSORSHIP. Maybe you actually know that and you’re just being intellectually dishonest because you don’t want to have to change.

And if you reverse the footage it sure looks to me like the driver is headbutting that poor man’s hand.

In many states that’d have gotten the exec shot. He’s lucky it wasn’t Texas or here in West Virginia.

In california transit uses cameras as a matter of policy and practice with no need for third party consent. Places of business do not need consent IE security cameras are legal in stores. The car is a place of business and the camera is in plain site. This is a scare tactic, and one of the many reasons why lawyers are so loved and revered in modern society.
