Boy, that’s ugly.
It’ll sell a handful to Musk loving fans, and will otherwise be relegated to the “WTF?” portion of automotive history. It’s hideous, and it’s use as a pickup looks dubious given the body design.
Not what people wanted, Elon.
From the point of view of warlords or death squad commandants looking for a chassis for their “technicals”, Musk will have to bring the price down a bit to match the value of a used Hilux.
The Tesla Tholian?
I haven’t yet seen any images of the doors opening; gull-wings aren’t too much to hope for, are they?
I love it when car manufacturers try something ridiculous and ballsy like this. It might be a niche product, but nobody can call this timid.
Based on the Jalopnik article, it seems like the rear cap is retractable or removable, so you can get a full open bed (at least as big as on like a Ridgeline or something):
… so I think it’s not as bad as the one image suggests. Still, this thing is certainly… a mood, to say the least.
It’s like a Buck Rogers in the 25th Century El Camino.
My question is does it come with this guy?
That’s the only useful picture I’ve seen of it, thanks. The rear tailgate/ramp combo is an ACTUAL good idea. The rest… meh.
Exactly, it looks like every one of those 80s concept cars, a marker-rendering made with nothing but a ruler, inspired by Blade Runner and Syd Mead. Also, what the heck is that crazy vehicle with the shark-fin gull-wing thing on the back? That’s a new one on me.
As seen in Damnation Alley!
Update: Edward Dean Jeffries (February 25, 1933 – May 5, 2013) was an American custom car designer and fabricator, as well as stuntman and stunt coordinator for motion pictures and television programs based in Los Angeles, California.
I wonder how it performs once it gets dirt, mud, and rocks in the cracks etc.
Here’s the thing: if it’ll tow my camper trailer without swaying as much as my F-150, I’d much rather have an electric vehicle doing it. Ugly be damned.
The important question: What kind of guns are on the gun rack?
MEGAFORCE! HO!
Boring Company weed whackers?
