It might have had a very different ending, save for that rinky-dink cage…

Cruelty to animals is not cool, but I’ll be surprised if they mount a big manhunt and put every clue under the microscope.

This is not uncommon for Houston. Several of the large cats at the Houston Zoo are “rescues” of this sort. At least the owner didn’t have this poor kitty declawed (which is something that actually happened to another less fortunate tiger in Houston whose owner left it for dead on the highway shortly thereafter).

Less well known but similar story - Florida man wanders into abandoned home to smoke weed, finds large tiger, attempts to smoke tiger and is killed.

Hungry tiger, “rinky dink” cage. Nope. Nopenopenope.

Feeding and housing big cats is expensive, so poorly kept ones are surprisingly common. And “Not Hungry” is an important safety step.

It is not part of a true culture to tame tigers, any more than it is to make sheep ferocious.

Yeah, I’ve never hallucinated a tiger while I was on weed. Dammit.
