Speaking of Amazonā¦
I donāt think that the man really had a grasp of how big that data center is.
What the actual fuckā¦? Thatās just, desecration.
It was also all done without family permission.
I see Vice have removed the story now.
Un-fucking-believable, even if it had been clearly announced as some kind of art project statement, which it wasnāt.
āYou should smile moreā?!
But they look prettier when they smile! /s

If anyone should know that thereās no such thing as āunskilledā labor, itās Rowe, who spent literal years trying (and frequently failing) to do the sorts of low-prestige jobs he now says donāt need to be paid a living wage. Oh well, time for him to get into the sea.
You mean the opera singer who spent years in the production of labour porn? That guy?
I did not know that.
PragerU and Daily Wire, I guess he works for the Wilkes Brothers.
Yuck.
There was an interview this morning with the director of Hospitality Maine talking about the upcoming tourism season. Main point was: people are coming back, bookings are on the rebound, but labor is hard to come by.
I know from living here that a fair chunk of our seasonal labor (especially in the fancy/expensive communities like around Acadia NP) comes from international labor - a lot of eastern Europeans
The interviewer kept asking who normally filled these openings and the director literally bent himself into knots trying to claim that the expanded jobless benefits were causing the shortage. Finally on about the 3rd time being asked, he admitted that those visas had been limited by the Trump administration, and that was a challenge.
The same limitations have hurt the farming and orchard industries.
Too bad we canāt have a $15 minimum wage to make it worthwhile to do these physically (and often emotionally) challenging jobs.
A small community on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay where I enjoy visiting is partly shut down because they donāt have enough people to work in restaurants, seafood stores, etc.
Itās will interesting to see how Summertime plays out there.
Do you know if itās similar, with the visa limitations being a big bottleneck? Or is it normally locals but thereās some reason they arenāt working?
I know personally if I still worked in the hospitality industry I would be VERY picky about where I might work. Outside dining with good management, okay. Thatās about it.
I do not know the reasons. Itās never been like this before. So, either COVID-19 related or visa issues or both? Heading there this weekend.
Dude. No. Shut Up.
