Ties to socialist organisations was a question in the clearance process up through the 80’s in the US, if I’m not mistaken. Then it got dropped, and the question in it’s place was whether you had ever affiliated with a group that would overthrow the government by force. Seems like sliding backwards.

So no Republican can ever again get security clearance? Because if this is not true, then this question is meaningless.

Yeah, well, the Tump kids walked in and got cleared after failing all the questions regular folks would get disqualified for, so that’s a bit problematic.

Good grief,
I thought I was being sarcastic.

When did The American Conservative start pushing the religious claptrap as part of their schtick? I thought they were bro-libertarians mainly.

Meh. It’s a stolen label, and it means what they what it to mean. No more, no less.

MacLean details how this little-known figure has had a massive impact on the ideology of the far right. None other than Charles Koch looked to Buchanan’s theories for inspiration. They are libertarian — but with a twist: bluntly, it “entails restrictions on the freedom of the great majority in order to protect property rights and the prerogatives of the most well off.”

Who would have thought that would happen, back when the ayn-caps stole the label from the socialists in the first place? Not that the socialists ever gave up trying to reclaim it.

Not sure where else to put this… it’s about the country, not the American state. But it’s just horrific. Some might find it triggering…

which was published under the fictitious byline ‘E.P. Unum.’"

Another example of racists veiling themselves in simulacra of the symbols of American democracy without understanding them. The whole point this email is falsely making, as reported above, is that it is not possible (or desirable) to make unum out of pluribus!

And remember: Turning Point USA, this far right organisation, is being attacked by parts of the Q faction of the GOP for being not extreme enough!

I initially thought this was your Georgia and was horrified. Still horrified, but less shocked now that I know it is not that Georgia.

It’s cool to see this kind of rebellion, but…no masks?! I thought they were required on flights these days…

Who thought a maskless photo-op in a privately chartered jet was a good idea?
