You’re not wrong there - best to walk into this tactical alliance with our frenemies with our eyes open.

That said, they’re fucking virtuosos. The Lincoln Project is a brilliant political campaign that is crotch-kicking Trump on a nearly-daily basis.

Democratic strategists and campaigners need to be taking notes. We need our own Rick Wilsons and Steve Schmidts.

Remember, politics is weaponized psychology.

My hearing sucks so I barely caught a word but I got the gist – everyone hates Tramp. But look at all the love+hate relationships. Do Trampists worship what they love+hate?

The Youtube video of the ad does have closed-captions

Anyone have any pig’s blood handy? Asking for a friend.

From a point of view of US citizen, sure. On the other hand people living in Middle East definitely got a shit sandwich with W.
45’s death toll is just more noticeable because it happens mostly locally instead of some far-away country.

Just like 4 years ago - when Twitter and the MSM gave Trump a free campaign ride by repeating his lies & BS 24 / 7 - so the Lincoln proj. is now helping the Dems save valuable campaign cash.

Oy. Someone I worked with once was known to be paranoid (he almost called 911 when he found white sprinkles on a black counter because I’d had to adjust the ceiling tile and he assumed it was an anthrax attack). The one thing he was especially paranoid about was whether people were saying he was paranoid. So his nickname (not from me) was “don’t call me paranoid.”

One day I couldn’t help myself. He knew that I respected his work. I said, “Ask me if I think you’re paranoid.” He hesitated. I said, just trust me. He said, “Okay okay. Do you think I’m paranoid?”

-I- don’t think you’re paranoid.

I think @Bemopolis is discussing Biden’s poor leadership as the Senate Judiciary Chair during Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing. @Bemopolis never mentioned the actual vote. Anita Hill was vilified and Biden did zero to stop the other Senators. I also remember this very well.

ETA: Sorry. Did not see the other replies.

I don’t think the Kurds or Yemeni would agree with this assessment.

W’s warmongering did many things to make the world an objectively worse place. The irony is Trump is making things even worse by his gross non-management of the military. From abandoning our allies to get slaughtered, to ceding our bases to foreign powers, to using the military as a domestic security force against its own citizens.

Whoa. That went further than I would expect.

Still, the enemy of my enemy is my enemies enemy, not exactly my friend.

A useful tool in defeating my enemy; only that and nothing more.

If they genuinely want to debride the Republican Party, then good for them.

I’m sure there’s that here and there in The Lincoln Project group, but I think it’s safe to assume that some of the motivation has to do with just trying to survive as a viable Party.

  1. Trump’s Yemen policy has been little more than a continuation of the Obama status quo.

  2. American support for the Syrian Kurds was never anything more than a realpolitik effort to destroy Syria, and the American betrayal of Rojava was inevitable and unsurprising. Even if the US had succeeded in causing the disintegration of Syria, they were never going to continue supporting an anarchosocialist state in the long term.

Is Trump’s foreign policy murderous and evil? Of course, he’s a US President.

Is Trump’s foreign policy less murderous and evil than the Presidential norm? So far, yes.

Regrettably, that’s a standard that sets the bar in the basement.

I’m encouraged to see that the Lincoln Project is about more than just getting rid of Trump. This latest ad seems to indicate that they really are trying to root out the worst elements of the party and rebuild it, rather than just dump Trump and go straight back to the GOP business as usual. (Time will tell how serious they are about it, and I’m not terribly optimistic about the long term prospects.) I’m unlikely to ever vote republican, but the country would definitely benefit if there was more than one functional party putting forward their best ideas for public debate. It would be great if we could get back to a point where the opposing party members are our rivals, rather than enemies.

Obama was no saint but Trump was more than happy to take on missions that Obama refused to authorize, like the early 2017 debacle that killed dozens of Yemeni civilians.

That’s only because he has no foreign policy. But anything he does is guaranteed to be evil.
