So according to that, Lower Tadfield is in Midsomer County. That… makes sense, actually.

I heartily look forward to the Crowley/John Barnaby crossover episode.

Apparently the shortest route to drive through all 48 contiguous states (non round trip). 113 hours.

Clever use of tripoints. Some of these are on very minor roads and might even involve some cheating by driving off-road around monuments. Still, I’m intrigued. Has this been done?

ETA I think this could be done in less than 100 hours. We’ll need a fast car…

Here’s an interesting site – enter a forename or surname and it will show you (via maps or lists) where people having that name are. A recent BBS comment got me thinking about the name “Cletus”, which is a somewhat amusing stereotypical American name for a country bumpkin or rube.

Surprisingly, Arkansas doesn’t have the most Cletuses – my state (Missouri) has more than 5 times as many. Zoom out to the global scale, though, and it happens there are nearly 58,000 people named Cletus in Nigeria:

“Knob Lick” could also be a contender for Missouri.

I had never heard of a sugar tit until an older friend mentioned that his aunt was fond of saying Everyone wants a sugar tit (and then he explained to us what it was)

They also used to use poppy seed - and milk of poppy! - boiled in milk and honey in those little clothmade pacifiers.

No, not that kind of poppy:
