I’ve been constantly amazed and horror by his supporters’ willingness to overlook his total ignorance, his obvious cognitive issues, his serious behavioral issues, his incessant lies… not just overlook, but many actually embrace the defects, even. Instead of screaming in terror, they’re cheering in delight. I can’t express how disturbing that’s been to me. I lost faith in Americans when he got nominated. I lost faith in the human race when he got elected.

Yeah, this. Everyone makes mistakes; that’s part of being human. Obama, who’s both extremely intelligent and an exceptionally good speaker, made the “57 states” error mentioned above. But as you say, with Trump it’s not occasional mistakes. It’s a constant stream of blunders and errors and gibberish.
