Ah, the “Crocodile Dundee” maneuver.
Pardon my ignorance but is this type of assault towards members of the trans community common?

Seems appropriate that her name is Karen… anyways… LOCK HER UP!
Is there something wrong with NPR that I’m not aware of? They do some bothsiderism sometimes but are generally decent. My particular local NPR have been very supportive of LGBTQ, including trans people and the national one seems the same
It was the bothsiderism that made me include that, as well as some ethically questionable things that have come out, although I do find their coverage generally good, and the local reporting better than anything else that’s available.
Thanks for pointing out that my aside was an unnecessary distraction.
That wasn’t my intent, but you’re welcome. I was genuinely concerned there was something I wasn’t aware of. A few years ago, I wasn’t aware of the issues with the NYTimes, for example. Something I definitely wanted and needed to know!
Every outlet has it’s issues, but I want all the info so I can decide how critically I need to read what they produce. I generally like NPR. As far as mainstream media goes, I think they do a decent job. Thanks for the link, I wasn’t aware of that particular issue.
More of this, please.
It’s the only way they’ll learn.
The BBC are at it again, with their reporting on this bit of transphobic bad-faith posturing disguised as charity work.
Fox News found a new asshole detransitioner to promote shutting down clinics.
I had some email discussions with Beck when they were running for office- a friend knew them & I was more involved in politics then.
Completely arrogant and clueless. Thought they had a chance running against Steny Hoyer. Who besides being in leadership, winning the last election by a landslide, having great fundraising was also very good on LGBT rights.
They didn’t want to to go to the candidate training suggested either. They didn’t need it. It’s like she thought being an ex seal meant she knew more than everyone else and would magically get votes. They predictably got hammered with Hoyer getting over 75% of the vote and Beck and the other candidate splitting the rest.
Guess they weren’t tough enough to deal with being trans and being a woman. It’s not the same kind of strength you need in those more masculine endeavors.
Yesterday I had some random jerk on Second Life link me to the Toronto Sun article about this as if me transitioning is bad. I told them I didn’t care, they got mad because I wouldn’t entertain their crap. It’s like some folks think they know better for others and they want to LARP being someone’s mom/dad/parent without even paying their bills.
And the whole point of transitioning is to find out if it’s right for you. Not if it’s right for everyone.
It’s like she moved to Hawaii - had numerous set backs and difficulties - left and decided that no one should live in Hawaii. The place needs to be obliterated.
He says he did it to himself and then goes on to whine about how other people took advantage of him. He was a navy seal. You’d think he could have stood up for himself if transitioning wasn’t what he wanted.
If it is even true he was offered hormones after an hour consultation with a psychiatrist, which I doubt, perhaps it was because he was an adult former Navy Seal.
Also probably presenting male and white, which automatically makes doctors more likely to believe he is competent. Perhaps that psychiatrist assumed he knew himself well enough to make this choice.
I’ve never transitioned, but everything I have ever heard or read says it is a long and hard road that the person transitioning must push to get down. That all along the way are a bunch of people saying no or wait a bit or you don’t know what you want. I expect it is even harder for teens. No one is offering kids hormones at the drop of a hat.
Also, the bit about the hormones being used to castrate pedophiles? What a disgusting dog whistle. Got the whole protecting the ability of a AMAB individual to father children tied with pedophiles.
The assholes never realize this, but it’s telling that the RWNJ can only find a scarce few people who decided transitioning was a mistake.
I don’t believe they had just one meeting and were prescribed hormones story either. It took decades to get the VA to take care of the needs of trans veterans.
They’re hurting right now and I hope they find their place in life. Without hurting others. Trying to jump in on the conservative cash cow going forward isn’t going to improve their life. They’ll use you for a bit and ruin you in the process.
Same. Though I have very little sympathy for someone weaponizing their pain to harm other people.
Was it a white cisgendered dude? I bet it was a white cisgendered dude! It’s almost always a white cisgendered dude!
The other piece that doesn’t get discussed much and as far as I know hasn’t been studied.
What % of detransitioners retransition again later. I’ve known several. We know that the detransition rate is around 2%. And that most cite discrimination as the reason. I would gently suggest to Beck that what you’re experiencing is due to discrimination in a very large part. You’re mistaking the reason your life has so many problems. It’s not because you are transgender - it’s because of the hate for and discrimination against transgender people.
You’re fighting the wrong battle.
Certainly sounds like it to me… But I’m guessing, much like Caitlyn Jenner, they’re more interested in the short term pay day right now.
And weren’t able to let go of the entitlement they no longer had. In Jenner’s case - she had a ton of money to help her maintain most of it. And she transitioned at such a late age. But not everyone who transitions in their 60’s has her inability to change some aspects of their life or even experienced that entitlement the same way beforehand.
“Forcing your name on others who did not ask is neither kind nor good. You are asshole henceforth.”
