It’s been a few years since there’s been Scottish Independence terrorism:
Those hormone trackers seem terrifing…
“Is at imminent risk of suicide or is trans.” Seriously? How can you possibly make these things equivalent? Oh, yeah, it doesn’t matter, as long as you hurt trans kids.
(ETA: Dems hold the Senate, so this is highly unlikely to become law. Still, right wing fuckers can fuck right off.)
They are so far from equivalent it’s not even funny. This bill will, if anything, increase the number of suicides of trans people, not protect them. Because everyone knows forcibly outing trans kids to potentially transphobic parents will do wonders for preventing suicide.
And then those same transphobic parents will play the victim after bullying their own children to death. assholes.
Yep. ‘How could our kid do this? We only told them they were wrong, invalidated their identity, refused all treatment that could resolve dysphoria and treated them like disgusting degenerates for even thinking that way!’
And they never even tried not being trans!! It’s really all their fault, after all.
(Gaahhh, I need a bath. And a drink.)
I tried to not be trans for over 30 years. Didn’t work. It’s just part of who I am, and it’s been that way since I was first aware of gender. If I could just NOT be trans, I would have done that decades ago. I wish the phobes could understand that.
We’ve talked about this before. Trans men have male brains on MRI. They don’t choose to, they just do. Likewise, trans women have female brains. It would be no different than “have you tried not being Black?” I have had this discussion with parents multiple times. the blank looks are terrifying. It’s like they can’t hear a word I am saying.
(Edit for type bad.)
It’s all just behavioral. And we need to do studies to support this truth.
We take a thousand cis gender guys. Transition them involuntarily socially and with hormones and surgery. Look in on them yearly for 10 years. They’ll have identities as women because it’s all behavioral.
Yeah. Transness is an intrinsic part of who we are. The only choice we have is whether we want to transition and if we do, exactly how that looks.
Some people are able to basically stay presenting as their AGAB, most are not. Some, like myself, try to stay presenting as our AGAB but find the dysphoria eventually makes that untenable, and others just suffer with it for their entire lives at the expense of their mental health. The lucky ones find themselves in a supportive environment early and are able to basically live their whole lives as their true gender.
I want a world where all trans people fall into that last group.
Oh, you mean the surgeries performed on intersex newborns?
(Yeah, I know you weren’t talking about that, but it fits.)
I just want a world where everybody can live their best lives and other people don’t feel threatened because someone else’s life is different from theirs. It shouldn’t be that hard.
I was thinking specifically of David Reimer in this case.
“Money was a prominent proponent of the ‘theory of Gender Neutrality’; that gender identity developed primarily as a result of social learning from early childhood and could be changed with the appropriate behavioral interventions.“
