Some permutation of the following:
- they’re assholes
- the mind resists courses of action that will reduce its advantage by default, and resisting this requires conscious effort
- confounding factors
Some permutation of the following:
Ummm, is this where we get out the “shocked - not shocked” meme? I’m pretty sure this is the kinda thing it was made for!

Thank goodness. If the editorial board doesn’t understand it (or understands far too well), I’m glad the staff is pushing back.
The editorial board chastised the workers because they spoke up - I’m thinking that they’re fully on board with the transphobia.
They need to do something to prove otherwise- hell - anything as they’ve done nothing.
Earlier on Friday, Viner, along with chief executive Annette Thomas, emailed all staff defending its decision to publish pieces that “never shy away from difficult or divisive subjects” and pledging to represent “a wide range of view on many topics”.
My existence should not be a difficult or divisive subject to a centre-left newspaper!
I look forwards to the day when the Guardian’s transphobic phase is as embarrassing to them as the Daily Mail’s Hitler supporting days are to them.
The editor and CEO then castigated staff for publicly criticising the work of coworkers: “It is never acceptable to attack colleagues whose views you do not agree with, whether in meetings, on email, publicly or on social media.”
Does someone want to tell them this is how you get a strike?
I totally agree and get your sentiment but you might have picked the wrong analogy
It’s still embarrassing to them, they had to change sides and pretend it never happened.
When you put it that way…
Well played.
“No” to non-binary ID for a while longer.
Why not just skip gender altogether? I mean, what value is added?
There’s no additional value as a document to identify someone as they have your picture- just as they used to include race in the US in ID - but haven’t in years.
For some, the personal achievement of getting the marker they want outweighs the actual ID value, for sure.
