The meeting included Sens. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Kyrsten Sinema (D-Arizona), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Graham.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) attended the meeting by phone.
“What I’ve asked Sen. Cornyn to do is to meet with the Democrats who are interested in getting a bipartisan solution and come up with a proposal, if possible, that’s crafted to meet this particular problem,” he said.
So we can expect quick movement on legislation that will prevent this specific shooter from killing these specific children at this specific location again
I have had experience re: legal matters to court in Texas, and Texas judges in various city, county (no legal background required in some contexts! be a judge just… because!) and state levels. In past five years, I sat in on environmental hearings, on friends’ evictions, on trespassing charges for friends who were peacefully protesting, and more.
Good luck getting real justice in Texas… and if one should be so lucky as to have one’s case before the SCOTUS, I don’t fancy the odds of justice there either, given today’s talent on the bench.
