And photographs of the bodies. It would make things harder on the families, which is bad. But the damage needs to be seen. It would help change minds and prevent more families from losing their loved ones.
At the very least legislatures need to be forced to view those images.
Not so sure we can ask that of the victims’ families, but totally agree that our elected officials need to see the photos, every single time. Which in the States means Congress would have to have time set aside nearly every day for the viewing of the carnage.
There are families that would be willing. Some of the families of the Robb Elementary victims. Some survivors with wounds might also be willing.
We also need a press/media moritorium on using the the names and photos of the murderer. Like NZ did for the Christchurch mass murderer.
ETA: they should be referred throughout as “shooter who who murdered x victims at location” and “murderer of [victim name] and 5 others.” Using different victim’s names throughout. It would be awkward but denying them fame and even personhood is important
