Top prosecutor sentenced to 5 years for covering up police chief’s assault of a handcuffed man who stole a bag of porn, viagra, cigars, and sex toys from his car

Hypothetical county – and there are some with very small populations. Harding County, NM has a population of 695 and is much larger geographically than several in TX.

And, yes, one might watch the video looking for station identification. Or one might do a little research to find counties with officials named as above. Which, I propose, is rather backwards from deciding from the headline whether the article is worth reading.

Or one might click the link.

Or maybe not argue about seemingly nothing with some one who just answered a simple, direct question.

I am not Mark Frauenfelder. I did not fail to pull quote the very first line of the linked article the post is about.

I get what you’re saying but I think in an instance like this it just becomes even more obvious that the person is abusing their power and will be held accountable all the sooner. I’m not saying it’s applied the way some folks apply zero tolerance rules. I just think that it should be there as an option. The judge who was selling kids to private prisons? definitely. This guy? I dunno what else has he done?

That’s already happened in more “tepid” cases where, for instance, a married politician was outed for having an affair with an aide. Sociopaths have one rule: perpetual self-protection beyond all else.

I like that TV show about the development of technology that James Burke did in the '80s, but it seems he’s really gone off the deep end.

Shows they can find stolen property when they want to but just don’t want to make the effort when it doesn’t belong to a cop.

The ‘unraveled’ podcast about it was great. Very strange relationship between these two.

It worked for me mainly because I guess I subconsciously grokked that ‘who stole’ was a stand-in for ‘who had stolen’.

So ‘who had stolen’ would have made it a more parseable headline, but perhaps not as snappy (which is the point of a headline - that, and getting you to read on, so minor parsing glitches serve their purpose, sadly).

Given his sordid history, the sentence seems kinda light. Better than nothing, though.

Dying alone in prison would be the best you could hope for. As for your ‘disgrace’, let me go find my violin…
