“Closed” as in “Closed to renovate & update name”, not “went out of business”
And that’s why it’s in the Positive News and Stories thread!
Anyone not familiar with Jammidodger, he is a trans man, psych PhD, excellent communicator and in this video, lays down some hard, well referenced truths regarding transphobia.
That ad even squeezed a tear from me, who considered himself immune to ads.
(Not immune to feel-goods though, so, yay!)
““Like the district court, we are unpersuaded, with respect to the claim for an injunction to alter the records, that Plaintiffs have established the injury in fact and redressability requirements for standing; both fail for reasons of speculation,” the panel of judges wrote.
“And because we conclude that the CIAC and its member schools did not have adequate notice that the Policy violates Title IX — indeed, they had notice to the contrary — Plaintiffs’ claims for damages must be dismissed,” they added. Title IX is a federal education law that prohibits sex-based discrimination.
The judges also leaned on past circuit decisions and the Supreme Court’s landmark opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County, which says it is unlawful to discriminate against people based on their gender identity or sexual orientation in the workplace.
“Title IX includes language identical to that in Title VII, broadly prohibiting discrimination ‘on the basis of sex,’” the judges wrote. “Thus, it cannot be said that the Policy — which prohibits discrimination based on a student’s transgender status by allowing all students to participate on gender specific teams consistent with their gender identity — ‘falls within the scope of Title IX’s proscriptions.”“
Of course, the Supreme Court has now decided to review cases where there was no standing. And their goal is to get before the Supreme Court.
But a win should be celebrated!
My friend Milan posted their first selfie just hours after top surgery and wow, that dude has 100% more swagger now
On Saturday night a co-worker asked me how long I’ve been transitioning—HRT is finally working
Awesome!! The magic never stops
Given the furious reaction this has provoked, this could have gone in either this thread or the negative one, but despite all the wrecking amendments, despite all the organised disruptions from bigots in the audience, and despite the delaying tactics that saw the bill being discussed until midnight, we’re going to pass this bill.
I sincerely hope @anon73430903 is celebrating this!
The BBC should fix that headline, there’s nothing controversial about the reforms unless you’re a bigot.
