Trump administration sues John Bolton to block publication of new book that claims presidential misconduct

Maybe I’m just feeling extra cynical, but they may very well be trying to get the book as much press as possible. Months old unverified stories becoming the scandal instead of 100,000+ dead and large scale protests in the streets is a much healthier media position. The fight also gives Trump leverage of Bolton if the impeachment issue were to reappear.

Hey, Steven Colbert already has a copy of the book. I doubt he’s gonna be intimidated by these ‘strong arm’ tactics.

@HatOfEdshu im reasonably sure the only reason they are suing him for breach of NDA is because the are suing him in civil court for breach of contract instead of criminal court for “leaking classifieds informations herp derp” because its a complete waste of the courts time no matter what they say…

the trump boys already know that there is almost 0% chance of this going anywhere except endless appeals. and since the senate and the justice department have been stacking judges in an almost militant fashion it makes sense that they will just tie this up in endless litigation
akimbo is right.

And besides, as any counsel in the tech industry will tell you, NDAs don’t mean shit. They’re universally unenforceable. They’re just like a fiat currency of sorts. They work because everyone believes they work, but always collapse when challenged hard enough.

I thought this version was cleared for classified material on April 27th and the only reason the administration is holding it up is it tells the truth about his experiences working for the Donny. President Donny doesn’t like people to do that.

No one works with him.

Bolton was not a trump employee. The taxpayers paid his salary, not trump inc.
As such any “NDA” by trump is meaningless, as Bolton (or any other person in the government) did not sign any employment contract with trump inc, and was not on trumps payroll. Bolton’s sole responsibility was to the constitution and the people of the USA.

Hey, I didn’t say that he did a good job at actually following though on either of those responsibilities…
