He can vaguely sort-of empathise with Jews because he sees them as a group that has not been “treated right”, like him.

If he somehow wins,* I doubt that he’ll be giving Jewish voters any credit. The real audience for this speech is that howling mass of Know-Nothings looking to revive and mainstream their favourite scapegoat for a new generation.

[* and, using various cheats, he can. Vote!]

Jewish Americans were voting against their own interests

“Why aren’t those silly Jews voting for a party pushing a theocratic Christian state and that regularly runs candidates who deny the Holocaust or push blood libels? It’s a real puzzle.”

Inherent in his claim – and in those of Xtianist Zionists – that secular American Jews who vote Dem are effectively destroying the place where they supposedly belong is the unstated assumption that they’re really not welcome in MAGA America (the Evangelicals add the twist of the supposed haven of Israel actually being a charnel house precursor to the return of white Jeeezus).

The claim also helps bolster the “dual loyalties” calumny by assuming that all American Jews accept Israel as their “real homeland”.

Very vaguely. In the end, the only victim or person that counts for him is himself.

He said that multiple times in that speech. One time, he followed it up with “Story of my life!” Yeah, his life has just been one non-stop train of being the victim. How do people not see through this bullshit?

Just more stochastic terrorism. “It’s the Black migrants! It’s the Jews! It’s single women!” Just marking targets for his acolytes to go after as the election nears. “Will no one rid me of these troublesome demographics?”

And, as you’re aware, after the election is over. Win or lose, we’ll still be dealing with this pack of violent fascists and bigots and he’ll still be riling them up.

I would be delighted to share credit for Trump’s loss with Jews, Haitians, trans people, The Blacks, etc. Christ, what an asshole.

This can’t be right. Why I watched ABC news last night and they said that “he gave a speech about the dangers Jewish people face and encouraged them to vote”

At this point, it’s because they don’t want to…

He’s just continuing the noble tradition of Richard “Get the Jews – the ones that give to the Democratic party” Nixon.

All Trump’s relationships are transactional, but loyalty only flows one way. Trump may present himself as a defender of “Jewish interests” but only so long as Jewish people “vote the right way”. Second-term Trump is going to be all about collective punishment for anyone who didn’t support him, and even if he doesn’t take action against “disloyal” Jews, I’m sure some of his more extreme supporters would be happy to take on the task.

The simplest possible translation of his speech would be:

“You Jews better vote for me… or else.”

I’m a Jew and I am a danger to the twatwaffle-I’m voting for Harris. All of the Jews that vote against him will have been part of his defeat.

Note the occasional little smattering of applause (like when he calls Schumer a Palestinian) and laughter. As a Jewish American, I felt like slapping whichever idiot or idiots were applauding him at that point.

He was on a tear yesterday.

I’d still love to know how he will end something that’s been going on forever.

Ground zero for the outbreak of anti-Jewish hate under Kamala Harris has been our college campuses.

Kamala Harris said that the radical demonstrators on college campuses were showing what “human emotion should be.”

This message is wrong—it is dangerous—and it is unbefitting a candidate for president of the United States.

“I’m here today to tell the Jewish American community that this ugly tide of antisemitic, pro-Hamas bigotry and hate will be turned back and crushed — starting at noon on January 20, 2025.”

I’m calling on Kamala Harris to OFFICIALLY DISAVOW the support of all Hamas sympathizers, antisemites, and Israel haters.

She won’t do it.

“80 years ago millions of Jewish lives were stolen in Nazi death camps, just as the 2020 election was stolen from me. SAD!”

“ “If I don’t win this election, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with that … 60% are voting for the enemy …Israel will cease to exist in two years,” Trump said.”

Nice country you have there; you wouldn’t want anything to happen to it.

As always Trump has forgotten that he’s addressing US citizens, not Israelis. I doubt it’s occurred to him that Jewish Americans might have any concerns other than Israel. “Dual loyalties” stereotype and all that.

Some years ago an old school friend of my Brother-in-Law visited from America. Imagine our surprise and delight when we found he was an admirer of Trump. And a member of a gun club. What fun! We tried to present a more realistic world view of things to him - he was devoted to Fox News - but he said the only UK paper he would trust was the Daily Mail! [Facepalm]. I pointed out that since he was Jewish, wasn’t it against his own interest to support Trump? He said absolutely not, that since Trump’s kids had married Jewish partners, he would never be anti-semitic. At the time I thought “that won’t stop him”, but I changed the subject and started talking about logic puzzles, which I think got us through the afternoon. I don’t know what my BIL’s relationship with him is now. I dread to ask.

Trump seems to think of Jewish Americans as if they are all Israeli-Americans who feel an attachment to the “old country”, like Irish-Americans or Italian-Americans, etc. He once gave a speech to a Jewish audience where he referred to Benjamin Netanyahu as “your prime minister”.
