Trump "furious" after sparsely-attended Tulsa rally

It’s cute you think they will end up paying all of the bill…

Hindenburg made the exact same calculation. The “centrists” always wrongly believe that they can control people like Trump. What they prove in doing this is that they are not out for our interests, but to protect the system that largely benefits them at all cost, including aligning with someone who has obvious and overt authoritarian tendencies.

No one should have been surprised at how this administration was run, because we had all the evidence there from day one. The fact that there were people willing to work alongside them, despite that, speaks volumes to their character and who they care about.

Rule #1: Believe the autocrat.

Right? But whatever the intentions of the people who joined his administration actually might have been, the fact that they did join it matters and by doing so, they helped to legitimize him and his policies.

I remember discussing this with someone back in 2016, “Would you take a job with Trump if offered? Would I ?”

But the reality is if you’re a good and morally responsible person Trump wouldn’t come calling anyway.

Can confirm having spent part of my formative years in the area. Got out of Dallas as fast as I could in part because of the not-so-subtle racism and built-in class inequality. Folks in the Park Cities for example are quite open about their feelings about the “coloreds”.

Not that they themselves are racist of course when asked…Oh no…they know plenty of black folks - maids, yardwork, nannies, etc…

I love those photo-realistic paintings.

I think that comparison between Hindenburg and the “establishment” GOP figures who thought they could control Trump is pretty telling. There was a stretch of about a year in 2026-17 where Serious People assured us that the enormity of the office would fall on Trump and he would be forced to conform his behavior accordingly, at least to some degree, and the GOP faithful who stood by him would be there to guide the administration at that point.

Just like Hindenburg assumed that he was pulling the strings on the Bohemian Corporal and couldn’t see that Hitler wasn’t playing the same game he was until it was too late, Trump’s GOP backers wrongly assumed he’s even interested at all in the rules of the game they think apply. He doesn’t care if the GOP survives, he doesn’t care if the Constitution survives, and he doesn’t care if our system of government survives as we understand it. That’s a powerful advantage.

Where’s Red Skelton when you need him? I guess Jim Carrey is the current iteration.

I had a dog that made the same face when he couldn’t understand what was happening around him. He was pretty smart, though.

I pick on Don Jr. but I have to hand it to him: He and his wife make a great looking couple. I don’t care what anyone says.

Agreed, but be careful what you wish for. The soulless Mike Pence is eagerly waiting in the wings. Not quite as deranged as the mentally ill Don, but scary AF.

Pence, though, has all the charisma of a bag of sand, and is only intelligent and competent in comparison to the Orange Shitgibbon. If Trump drops dead from apoplexy, or gets sick with Covid-19, or quits in a fit of pique, Pence will never be able to capture Trump’s cult of personality.

So, who do the Repubs get to fill the slot at the last minute?

He always looks so ■■■■■

Trump keeps punching big ugly holes in his ship… faster than his repair crew can keep up — and using crappy patches.

I’ve had that expression many times in my life. I can’t make myself feel bad for him though. I feel slightly bad about how good it feels to see him wearing it. But only slightly.
