And yet I saw 3 or 4 posts on Facebook people touting various therapies as things he was talking about.
Now I can just shut them down with, “Nope, wasn’t talking about this, he was just being sarcastic.”

He’s really leaning into the “that stupid-ass thing I obviously said in all seriousness was just SARCASM, you were just too dumb to understand!” defense today.
(tl;dr: he posted a series of tweets calling for reporters to be stripped of their “Noble Prizes for Journalism,” apparently confusing the Pulitzer with the Nobel (which has no such category). Then he deleted the tweets when the error was pointed out. Then, several hours after people circulated the screen shots of the original tweets, he claimed he was being sarcastic.)
BTW, today is his wife Melania’s 50th birthday but you’d never know it from the way he spend the day rage-tweeting. For that matter it’s entirely plausible HE doesn’t know it.

He seems to think that it’s a magic mulligan to walk back anything he said and obviously meant.

If you tell a sarcastic joke on the world stage and a few people don’t get it, those people may not understand how sarcasm works.
If you tell a sarcastic joke on the world stage and not even your biggest fans perceive that you were trying to be sarcastic, then either
- You weren’t actually trying to be sarcastic
- You don’t understand how sarcasm works
- Both
