I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don’t know what ablesm actually is. Hint: Trump being wholly and overwhelmingly unqualified to hold the office of POTUS has nothing to do with any psychological, metal or personality disorders he’s speculated to have. As I said earlier, there’ve been many a successful head-of-state who’s psychological profile would be considered disordered by current mental health standards.
And that is literally all I’m going to say on that because @AcerPlatanoides has made a good point about it drifting off topic and, even though this whole thread turned into a melee while I was at dance rehearsal, I’ll do my small part not to help it along.
So I’ll just say that, if you think you’re qualified to diagnose the metal state of someone abhorrent from afar, and/or you think there should be a psychological evaluation before someone can hold political office, then I think you’re both wrong and being bigoted towards mental health patients. But frankly, if that’s what keeps you from voting for a human turd like Trump, if his own raging bigotry, stupidity and asininity isn’t already reason enough, then I’ll consider it a wash and just be glad you’re not voting for Trump.
Those are two separate premises. Of course nobody can make a remote diagnosis based on a subject’s television appearances, and I didn’t suggest that glib armchair analyses are valid. But we require psych evaluations for far lower-ranking personnel; it’s absurd to exempt the one who’ll actually have a finger on the big red button.
You’re right, and I amended my reply. Also, as someone who’s frequently enjoyed your commentary here in the past, I’d like to add that I regret any acrimony I may have sent your way in what I should have kept a more impartial discussion. Becoming emotionally invested in debates is definitely a character flaw of mine.
Someone already tried to call in an airstrike. But it would seem the Don’t-Push-Your-Luck Dragon’s out gallivanting around in the stratosphere or something.
I don’t get this whole discussion. I remember seeing clips in the reports of many news stations (Dutch and American) showing Muslims in several Muslim nations cheering after 9/11. And they weren’t even conservative stations. Whether these clips were genuinely showing people cheering because of 9/11, or editors were so sneaky as to use old footage and make the story up, I totally cannot tell.
Like most sane people, I do agree that Donald Trump becoming POTUS would be a complete nightmare.
So let’s not focus on his lack of taste and his family history or waste good internet ink on what others may or may not have done 14 years ago. Let’s focus on the real Donald Trump and the horrible plans he has in store for your country and the rest of the world.
Evidently. Because the lie Trump told, then stood by wasn’t “Some muslims celebrated, somewhere in the Middle East, on 9/11”.
It was “Thousands of muslims celebrated on the Jersey shore in the US, on 9/11” which objectively didn’t happen. These are two very different claims, and he’s not willing to back down on the one that’s objectively incorrect. Because he’s a massive blowhard.
I agree. Because this is not a discussion about clips of happy muslims in muslim nations.
Trump cited Jersey City NJ, repeatedly. Dancing people in NJ, and only NJ, repeatedly. Not as many times as he asked for Obamas birth certificate though. Not yet at least.
I fully believe you get this whole discussion just fine.
