Trump says federal government may 'take over cities,' because crime

I meant out of the adults.

If we’re including the kids, then the least horrible one would have been Marcella.

First the federal government takes over cities, then it’s “Today, there were 15 violent crimes in the city. Pretty soon that number is gonna be down to about zero, and that’s a pretty good place to be.” Then, “One of these days, crime is just going to disappear, like a miracle.” Then, “It’s only minor crime, not nearly as bad as car accidents. Did you know that 50,000 Americans died in car accidents last year? Nobody talks about that because all they care about is crime.” Meanwhile, the cities themselves devolve into the movie Escape from New York.

Apart from his daily rituals of laziness and disorganization, he says anything Stephen Miller tells him to say.

That part of the family was from Puerto Rico. And I’m a Philly girl - though the river isn’t too far away. Bit further of a cruise than Havana - but we do have Gritty - so worth the trip!

This might have been scary a year or two ago, but he’s a dead man walking now and he knows it. The GOP Senate knows it. The RNC knows it. These are the flailing pathetic death throes of a goose who knows deep down that he’s cooked, even if he can’t admit it to himself yet. To the extent that Trump has the ability to grieve (only for himself) he is in stage 1 - shock and denial.

Come on America!
We fought back once against Obama’s Operation Jade Helm.

A flailing cornered animal can do a lot of damage on its way down. We’ve already seen escalations in the use of federal agencies for policing. If he thinks his best path to victory is a law and order crackdown on cities to appease his racist suburban base, it will happen. It won’t matter that much to the people hurt in the process if the lawsuit that takes a decade through the courts declares it an unlawful use.

I remember Guilani bragging about how he had lowered crime rates in NYC, when the stats showed the crime rates dropping before he took office, and in fact the crime rates were dropping nationwide at the same time.

People tend to perceive that crime is going up, perhaps influenced by stories in the news, but the actual rates have been dropping steadily since the early 90’s.

The question all right thinking American’s need to ask themselves, is what are you personally prepared to do when the day comes, and it is coming, when the SDNY and FBI finally locks this orange conman up and his MAGA cult members begin their long hoped for rampage on the streets of America?

Good point. Maybe he can borrow Governor Brown’s?

I do hope that’s out-and-out sarcasm! If not, please throw yourself into the nearest lake.

i mean, look. every year white collar crime takes more than 500 billion vs. the 15 billion in personal property crime. not to mention the long term damage that things like continued red lining, higher mortgage rates, and lower mortgage or small business loan approvals (despite qualifications) have on black americans.

it’s about time the federal government swooped into new york, chicago, and la to shutdown the banks and close down wall street

crickets

that is what we’re talking about right?! :crying_cat_face:

I think trump wants to “take over cities” not so much because “crime”, but because “elections in November”. If he can put his cronies in charge of local governance of few key cities, his (or Miller’s) thinking goes, he can influence things such as placement of polling places, transportation to said polling places, “loitering” around said polling places (eg, standing in line), Many otherwise normal behaviors could suddenly become quite suspicious to whoever he puts in charge.

Plus, long term he can raise their taxes (in order to pay for suburban related projects), “privatize” formerly public services, redirect government contracts and funds to more “deserving” people and projects. And in general, he can really stick it to all those uppity minority people and libs who tend to congregate in cities, and make them as miserable as possible, which would go a long long way to make his base happy.
